Mission Trip To Belize

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

As I count down the days for my departure to my beautiful country of Belize, I am grateful to GOD for the assignment.

We will be in the trenches in downtown Belize City evangelizing and we will be hosting two activities for teen girls and women. Our activities are FREE and opened to the public. Our mission activities are possible because of the generous donations of businesses and individuals in Kentucky.

Friday, January 2, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. we are inviting ALL WOMEN to be a part of a dynamic Revival, DAUGHTERS OF VIRTUE, to be held at the Church of the Nazarene on Princess Margaret Drive. There is a WORD from the LORD.  We believe lives will be rededicated, women will receive a message of hope, and everyone will leave refreshed for the new year. 

Mission Trip To Belize December 29, 2014 to January 15, 2015

Greetings, friends!

Well, I have truly started counting down the days when me and the other Sisters-in-Christ leave the U.S. on a mission trip to Belize!

GOD continues to show me that when HE gives an assignment, I just need to trust HIM because HE wouldn't give an assignment without supplying the resources to fulfilling the assignment. The four of us Sisters-in-Christ are committed to making a difference in the lives of teen girls and women, not only here in the U.S. but around the world and we will start with Belize!

1 Thessalonians 5:14, "And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone."

November Is Diabetes Awareness Month

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention June 2014 Diabetes Report indicates that people with diabetes are at increased risk of serious health complications including blindness, heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, amputation of toes, feet or legs, and premature death. Prevention efforts nationwide are crucial to combat serious health risks.

Diabetes: Twenty-nine million people in the U.S. have diabetes aged 20 years or older (12.3% of the adult population), and 1 in 4 do not know it. This number has increased from 26 million in 2010. In 2012 alone, 1.7 million people aged 20 years or older were newly diagnosed with diabetes and 208,000 people younger than 20 years have diabetes (type 1 or type 2).

Pre-diabetes: Eighty-six million people—more than 1 out of 3 people—aged 20 years and older have pre-diabetes. The percentage of U.S. adults with pre-diabetes is similar for non-Hispanic whites (35%), non-Hispanic blacks (39%), and Hispanics (38%). Without weight loss and moderate physical activity, 15-30% of people with pre-diabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within 5 years.

Cost: Diabetes and its related complications account for $245 billion in total medical costs and lost work and wages. This figure is up from $174 billion in 2010.

GOOD NEWS - PREVENTION!!!!
The good news is that persons with pre-diabetes who lose only 5%-7% of their body weight and get 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week can reduce their chances of developing type 2 diabetes by more than 50%

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 

The National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) is an annual data collection conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau for the Bureau of Justice Statistics. The NCVS defines domestic violence as rape or sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, or simple assault committed by an offender who is the victim's current or former spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, parent, child, sibling, or other relative.

Intimate partner violence is violence committed by the victim's current or former spouse, boyfriend, or girlfriend.

According to the Department of Justice (Special Report, April 2014), between 2003 to 2012, the majority of domestic violence was committed against females (76%) compared to males (24%).  The majority of intimate partner violence was committed against females (82%), compared to males (18%).  Most domestic violence against females was committed by the victim's current or former boyfriend or girlfriend (39%) or spouse (25%).

Rates of domestic violence were highest for persons ages 18 to 24 years and lowest for persons age 65 or older.  In 2003 to 2012, persons ages 18 to 24 had the highest rates of intimate partner violence  and persons ages 12 to 17 had the highest rates of violence by other relatives.

In 2003-2012, non-Hispanic blacks and non-Hispanic persons of two or more races had the highest rates of intimate partner violence, compared to non-Hispanic whites.

Divas Meet The Greeks On Saturday, September 13, 2014

We have been having an awesome time at this year's Molding Of Generation Divas Program and have enjoyed the collaboration with the Urban Family Engagement Network for our parental component of our program.

On Saturday, September 13, 2014, students of the Greek organizations will be empowering, mentoring and educating the Divas at the DIVAS MEET THE GREEKS Session. These undergraduate and graduate students from all over Kentucky will be the experts empowering the Divas on Peer Pressure, Preparing For College, Self Efficacy and then a "REAL TALK" Panel Discussion where the Divas will be able to get their questions answered by these students.

2014 MOLDING OF GENERATION DIVAS SUMMER PROGRAM FOR WOMEN AND TEEN GIRLS

Greetings!! 

I am in constant awe of GOD's ways!!!!!  I am so pleased that this is Sisters Road To Freedom, Inc's fourth year in conducting its Molding Of Generation Divas Summer Program, and third year being granted-funded!  I give GOD all the honor and glory. 

This year, the team at Sisters Road has worked hard to bring an awesome, fun, empowering program, not only for the teen girls but also for the caring adults (women) who will be participating in the program.  This year, Sisters Road To Freedom, Inc. has teamed up with the 16th District PTA Urban Urban Family Engagement Network (UFEN). The parental component of the Molding Of Generation Divas summer program will be led by the amazing people of UFEN. The classes will include Politics Of Education, Advocating For Your Child, Parents Rights and Responsibilities, Strengthening Communication Skills.

Greetings in Christ!  

When I created the secured fundraising page on www.gofundme.com/BuildSisterhoodforChrist, I set the goal to raise $5,OOO. I just chose that figure at the time because I said if 10 sisters are committed to the mission, then the $5000 will be divided equally among all us which would greatly offset the airfare expense! Some of the sisters have never traveled outside of Kentucky so I know GOD will make a way for us to meet the airfare and hotel expenses. 

This evening as I was studying, the Holy Spirit led me to the scripture, Matthew 14:21, "The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children." My Lord. I am walking in holy boldness, my friends, that the fundraising goal of $5000 will be met, plus some, in the name of Jesus. 

The Bible tells me that with GOD nothing shall be impossible. The Bible tells me that seek you first the Kingdom of God and HIS righteousness, and all these needs shall be added unto you. The Bible tells me that I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.  I believe, in the name of Jesus.

My friends and sisters-in-Christ asked me a few years ago to organize a trip so they can go to Belize with me.  Well, little did I know that GOD was preparing me to organize a mission trip instead of a "How Stella Got Her Groove Back Trip". 

This mission has a specific purpose. That is to minister and evangelize to women and teen girls in Belize City through the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We will hold a Molding Of Generation Divas Conference for Adolescent Females and will hold a Revival and Conference For Women.  We will also be delivering gifts to families and the female workers of Belize Maintenance Limited (these are women who perform sanitation work, dig the drains, and cut the grass, etc.) 

We are excited about what GOD is doing and we are believing that women and teen lives will be changed for the better in Belize City.
