Have you tried losing weight and have been unsuccessful? Your teen is overweight?  Want to cook healthier, affordable meals at home?  Need that peace of mind as you deal with the teenage issues?  Molding Of Generation Divas Summer Program is the program that will help you on your journey to developing healthy bodies, minds and souls.  As parents,we are responsible for molding our children into healthy, peaceful and happy young adults.

Molding of Generation Divas Summer Program 2013 focuses on healthy bodies, minds and souls for both youth (young ladies ages 10 to 18 years) and their caring adults (women) through the assistance of health, fitness and education experts.

Education Week in "Youths' Lack Of Values,Character Worries American Public," states: "...more than six in 10 adults or 61 percent, said youngsters fail to learn such values as honesty, respect and responsibility is a very serious problem," according to the study.  (Carl Sommer's Character Under Attack, 2006)

Staying The Course Because I Believe

I bring you greetings!

Earlier this week, I was singing and dancing to one of Mary Mary's hit songs, "Go Get It", and then the deejay on Sirius XM Channel 64 (The Praise Channel) interjected and said that Tina and Teddy Campbell are asking for prayers and fasting of their fans and supporters for 30 days as they deal with
the issue of infidelity in their marriage.  That "breaking news" disturbed me greatly that I shouted, "oh no, oh no."  I know we are humans, I know we are not perfect, I know we have all fallen short of the glory of God but my goodness we need Christian marriages to succeed as never before.  The pundits are stating that Christian marriages are failing at the same rate as that of non-Christians.  We know that empirical research indicates that 42% of Christian marriages end in divorce.

Commitment in any thing takes hard work, especially in a marriage. It is written in the Gospel according to Mark 10:6-9: “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’  ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh.  Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” (NIV)

Thank God that even though Tina thought about stabbing him and divorcing him (I know exactly how she felt, I have been there), they will seek marriage counseling.  I applaud her for this because most of us women would definitely have stabbed him and then go to the attorney's office to seek advice on petitioning the court for a divorce.
Infidelity causes us to turn a blind eye on the sanctification of the union.

As a single Christian woman, this type of news causes me concern. It concerns me because I come across Christian brothers who believe that it is okay to "date and not be committed". They come up with all kinds of excuses as to why they cannot commit or why they believe that it is okay to "date" and then "see where it goes from here".  The devil is a lie I declare.  I refuse to let the Campbell's situation or these brothers' commitment issues get me discouraged from believing that God has a wonderful and awesome husband for me; one that will be committed to our marriage and family. I believe.  I will stay the course.

In the meantime, I pray for healing and forgiveness in the hearts of the Campbells. I pray too for the third party that her heart will be so convicted that she asks for forgiveness.  I can tell you from personal experience that it is a death sentence walking around with shame and guilt. BUT GOD.
Psalm 107:1-2 declares, "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story— those he redeemed from the hand of the foe." (NIV)

Like Sands Through The Hour Glass ..... So Are Our Values

Greetings! I pray everyone is well.

Friends, I have to let you know ...... it just irks me to no end when I see adults encouraging children and youth in disrespectful and misguided behavior.  Urgh, how I so want to get in that adult's face to let them know that there is nothing cute in a disrespectful child and that truly, it reflects poorly on them as parents. Ok, I am not being judgmental here ...... just stay with me for a minute!

Last year my sister, who is an educator in Belize, had attended an educator's conference at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky.  She had brought back couple knickknacks for me from that conference.  I was drawn to a book titled, "Character Under Attack & What YOU Can Do About It" by Carl Sommer.   Mr. Sommer is a dedicated educator and a successful businessman, but the most important thing about him is that he is a Christian man.  Mr. Sommer stated that he wrote this particular book because he believed that America is facing a crisis of character.  In conducting research, he discovered that there is a philosophical battle raging in America concerning the erosion of values. This erosion of values has serious implications for our schools and society, argued Mr. Sommer.   I will take it further and say that even in my own country of Belize, we are experiencing an erosion of values. It is disheartening to say the least.  I remember when I was a girl in school, I had the utmost respect for my teachers. My parents taught me that manners is due even to a dog, and that education is the key to success and the way out of poverty.  They did not tolerate any disrespect in their home nor were we encouraged to tell tales about our teachers.  The teachers who educated me in Belize were respectful men and women.  Not one day I can recall seeing them dressed in provoking or revealing clothes. In fact, I cannot recall ever seeing my teachers having inappropriate conversations/behaviors with students. There was this line .... an adult is an adult, a child is a child.  Teachers gave respect and students gave it back to them. Children were trained and expected to be respectful and mannerly both in the home and in the community (church, school, Girl Guides/Scouts, etc.).
According to a research conducted by Education Week, more than six in 10 adults or 61 percent said youngsters' failure to learn such values as honesty, respect, and responsibility is a very serious problem.  Only 37 percent of those polled believed today's children once they are grown will make the United States a better place.  I had to ask, well, whose problem is that? I didn't have to go far but take one look in the mirror and see my own reflection staring back at me.  As a parent, it is my responsibility to teach and uphold values in my household so my children can carry those with them in the world.  It is not the responsibility of schools and churches and non-profit organizations. This start in our very own homes.  What are we as parents teaching our children when we are wearing the same "tiny" clothes as they do? What are we as parents teaching our children when we drink in their presence or tell them to go get the beer? What are teaching our children when we exhale all that cigarette/marijuana smoke into their faces?

What about teaching our children to say "thank you", "please", "excuse me".  What about letting our girls know that being sexy is not about revealing their butt cheeks and their breasts so men (and women) can lust after them?  Yes, we live in a perverted world where it is now the norm to accept women lusting after women and men lusting after men.  What about teaching our boys and young men to hold open the doors for their sisters and other women? Teach our boys that having sex and making babies do not make them a man.  What values are we teaching our children?  This responsibility lies with us as parents first and foremost.

Mr. Sommer indicated that parents need to have moral standards and teach them to their children.  He said, "... wise are those parents who supervise their children, provide positive materials, and take time to teach them successful virtues."

James 1:22-25,  Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.)" (NIV)

YOU JUST HOLD ON

Greetings!

I am reminded that "It doesn't matter how much you go through, there is a promise over your life." (Rev. Dr. Felix G. Williams, III, Senior Pastor of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Lexington, KY).
I am holding on because I know my breakthrough is on its way. No matter what, I will keep pressing forward because I know GOD is able.  When the storms keep on raging, I will just hold on. I will hold on to HIS unchanging hands.

This is an encouragement for you today ... hold on.  Even when your days are gray, you just hold on.  When your children and your spouse act like they have no sense, you just hold on, help is on its way.  When you do not know where your next meal is coming from, you just hold on.  Help is on the way.  When you days seem darker than your nights, you just hold and don't let go.

James 1:2-4: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (NIV)

James 1:12, "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." (NIV)

I pray that you will hold on, stay strong, persevere under trial knowing that you will receive the crown of life that God has promised to us who love Him!  What a promise! Glory to God.
Amen.

A MOTHER'S LOVE AND FAITH

Greetings!

As the world prepares for Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12, I am encouraged by the story of  this widow/mother recorded in 2 Kings 4:1-7: "The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”  Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”
“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”  Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few.  Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.” She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.”  But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.  She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.” (NIV)

This widow/mother is nameless in this recording, but we do not need to know her name. What we do know is that she was a concerned mother. We know that she was a virtuous woman.  Why? She did not ask one question when Elisa gave her instructions to collect empty jars. She operated in faith and so was obedient to what the prophet Elisa told her to do. She gathered those jars and filled them with oil.  She sold the jars of oil, and because of her obedience and faith, she was able to pay the debts.  God rewards us for faithfulness. We see that not only she was able to pay her debts, but she enough money left to support herself and her sons.  Glory to God!

To that single mother, to the widow with children .... walk in faith and not by sight.  Be obedient to the Word of God. Faithfulness and obedience to shall bring reward.  You see, God shall provide ALL your needs according to his riches in glory!  When things look and seem gloom, do not dismay. God will pour oil into your empty jars!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
