2020 and The Lessons We Are Learning

How has 2020 shaped your life? What Have You Learned About Yourself in 2020?

For me, 2020 has been teaching me DISCIPLINE. Discipline to go to ABBA FATHER quickly to deal with issues of the heart and not react or give a verbal response to every thing that someone may say or do that I do not agree with, especially realizing they are speaking or doing from a place of toxicity/hurt.

Dr. Caroline Leaf in her books, Switch on Your Brain and Think, Learn, Succeed wrote that we can control our emotional reactions. In fact, the Bible tells us that self-control is Fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22).

Pastor Dawn Bowen, Vine Ministries, Belize stated, "Do not let your emotions govern your position of authority."

I Believe In Being Proactive Rather Than Reactive

I completed the Green Dot Active Bystander Training as I am determined to be active rather than reactive in the prevention of domestic violence/intimate partner violence.
As an active Green Dot Bystander, I can intervene in a situation as it arises by Directing, Delegating, and Distracting. Direct means stepping into a situation and directly handling it myself. Delegate includes getting someone else involved, whether calling the police, social worker or other authority. Distract is when I do not feel comfortable stepping in directly, but I create some type of distraction or diversion to stop the violence from happening, break the tension or deescalate the situation, and/or providing time to get the person help or to safety.

Facing Your Challenges

If you are facing a new challenge or being asked to do something that you have never done before, do not be afraid to step out.  You have more capability than you think you do, but you will never see it unless you place a demand on yourself for more. -Joyce Meyer

Finally, be strong in the LORD and in the power of HIS might. Ephesians 6:10

Compassion Is An Act

"The purpose of human life is to serve and to show compassion and the will to help others." Albert Schweitzer

This time we are in is the perfect time to show compassion to others through an act of kindness, a heart of love, a voice of understanding.

2020 International Women's Day

We are all parts of a whole. Our individual actions, conversations, behaviors and mindsets can have an impact on our larger society.  I choose to actively challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements.

Here are a few of the pics with organizers, artists, and entrepreneurs at the International Women's Festival at The Lyric Theatre in Lexington, KY.

2020 YEAR TO DRAW CLOSER TO GOD

Greetings!!!!! Wow, my first post for 2020!!!!

I returned from Belize where I attended and participated in "HEAVEN INVADES..." Retreat!!!! What a powerful retreat!!!

This is a year GOD is calling us to draw closer to HIM.  As we see all that is going on around us - in our families, communities, cities, nations and the world, so much disaster, death, and other horrific events. NOW is the time to repent and return to the LORD.

Today I encourage you: DRAW CLOSE TO GOD and HE will draw close to you.

Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your [unfaithful] hearts, you double-minded [people]. James 4:8
